I’ve emptied the tank 6 times now and the soap smell seems to be gone, I’ve done a water test, and the pH is reading 7.8. I know that gold fish prefer 7.5.

Given that a 32oz bottle of castile soap is often 16$ (price I fought at Walmart.com) which results in 4 cups that allows us to make your recipe only 4 times, that means each dish soap mixture will cost at least 4$.

Feb 18, 2010·I'm no expert, but dish soap is made to remove as much fat and oil as possible. Down is a natural product and as far as I know has a sensible film of fat or something similiar, wich has to be threaded with care. Dish soap will remove these and will therefore damage the down for sure.
